Russell City Energy Center Files Application For Certification With California Energy Commission
San Jose-based, Calpine Corporation (NYSE: CPN) and San Francisco-based, Bechtel Enterprises Holdings, Inc. today filed an Application For Certification (AFC) with the California Energy Commission (CEC) for its proposed Russell City Energy Center in Hayward, Calif. The filing marks the beginning of an extensive CEC licensing process required to build and operate an electricity generating facility in California. The filing included a request for expedited review that would reduce the licensing review process period from 12 months to 6 months.

Bechtel Moving Arizona Operation To Glendale
Bechtel will relocate administrative operations from Phoenix to the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, the company said this week.The new office, at the Talavi Business Park, will employ some 300 people in accounting, human resources and computer systems operations. Over time, Bechtel expects to add up to 200 additional administrative employees in Glendale.

(SCAE) has taken a 50% stake in their airport development and investment company. SCAE is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, which is responsible for the development and operation of Singapore Changi Airport. CEC Announces Approval Of Intergen's Wildflower Project
The California Energy Commission (CEC) today announced approval of InterGen's Wildflower Energy Project - two natural gas-fired generating plants that together will produce 225 megawatts of power for the California market by July of 2001. The 90-megawatt Larkspur Energy Facility will be located in the San Diego area and the 135-megawatt Indigo Energy Facility will be located in Palm Springs. InterGen is a venture of Bechtel and Shell.

Intergen Announces Brazilian Power Project
InterGen, a Bechtel-Shell venture, today announced the execution of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Brazilian utility Companhia Paulista de Forca e Luz for the development of Carioba II, a 945 MW gas-fired combined cycle generation facility to be located within the municipality of Americana, in the state of Sao Paulo.The PPA was marked yesterday by a signing ceremony witnessed by various senior Brazilian State and Federal Officials: Afonso Henriques, National Secretary of Energy representing the Minister; Mario Santos, President of National System Operator; Mauro Arce, Secretary of Energy for the State of Sao Paulo. Carioba II is the first of Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy classified priority thermal projects to execute a PPA. The Carioba II PPA is also the largest power purchase contract ever executed between private parties in Brazil.

Bechtel/sinopec Engineering, Inc./foster Wheeler Consortium Awarded China Petrochemical Contract
A consortium of Bechtel Petroleum & Chemical of the United States, Sinopec Engineering, Inc. (SEI), of China, and Foster Wheeler Energy Limited of the UK (BSF) said today that it is very pleased to have been awarded a project management contract to support a major petrochemical complex in southern China.The contract was awarded by CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Limited (CSPC), a joint venture of Shell Nanhai BV with 50 per cent shareholding and CNOOC Petrochemicals Investment Limited (CPIL), also with 50 per cent. CPIL is owned by CNOOC (90%) and the Guangdong Investment & Development Company (10%).

Cspc Nanhai Petrochemical Complex Awarded To Bechtel-led Joint Venture
A joint venture led by Bechtel was awarded a contract by CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Ltd. for the CSPC Nanhai petrochemical complex at Huizhou, in southern China's Guandong province. The $4.05 billion, 800,000-ton-per-year ethylene-based project consists of 11 chemical plants and associated services. Completion in scheduled for late 2005. The joint venture also includes Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. and Sinopec Engineering Inc.
