Bechtel delivered a report to a confidential data center customer on ways the customer can increase the use of offsite manufacturing for planned data centers in several different countries.

Offsite manufacturing, sometimes called modularization, allows data center customers to fabricate parts of a project as modules at various locations and then transport them to the final location for installation. The modules might include trestles for utilities, cabling, piping, or structural elements. This approach helps data center customers increase the predictability of their construction schedules as they move quickly to meet growing demand.

Enabling Artificial Intelligence

The exploding popularity of AI tools is creating significant demand for new data centers. The scale and complexity of new data centers requires an experienced engineering, procurement, and construction partner like Bechtel.

Bechtel provides the knowledge and experience needed to tackle the challenges of designing and building AI data centers:

  • Increased power density from AI chips.
  • More construction commodities, especially wiring and piping.
  • Shortened designed/build schedules.
  • Onsite power generation and increased power demands.
