Boston Globe Reviews Events of Boston Cat
Boston Globe’s 2007
year-end story on the Boston Central Artery/Tunnel reviews the engineering feats and events which led to the completion of the megaproject and the end of the Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff joint venture with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. The largest U.S. urban transportation modernization ever undertaken, the project is the result of more than 30 years of planning and 12 years of construction. It included 161 lane-miles (259 lane-kilometers) of interstate highway, an underground expressway, and a new bridge over the Charles River.
