Bechtel today announced that one of its in-house leadership and development programs was awarded three prestigious Learning In Practice Awards by Chief Learning Officer (CLO) magazine. The CLO awards recognize companies that demonstrate the highest excellence in designing and delivering employee development programs.
Bechtel, one of the world’s leading engineering and construction companies, was awarded two Gold awards in the categories of Business Impact and Collaboration, which recognize excellence in developing programs to enhance corporate needs and partnership within the organization to achieve optimal results. The company also received a Silver award in the Trailblazer category, which honors programs with innovative learning practices.
Bechtel’s award-winning course, ‘High Performance Crews’ is a field training program for construction foremen that builds skills in leadership, safety, quality and productivity. The interactive course transforms traditional classroom training into a hands-on job site curriculum and has graduated more than 300 foremen since its launch last year.
“While we are honored to receive these distinguished awards, we are most proud of what this development program has done for our colleagues and in turn, our projects and customers.” said Lucy Dinwiddie, Bechtel’s chief learning officer. “The awards demonstrate the collaboration and innovation of our team and the commitment to development that Bechtel has for our colleagues.”
Bechtel provides its learning and development programs through Bechtel University (BU). BU provides more than 1,000 instructor-led or online courses for company colleagues. Course offerings include engineering, procurement, construction, ethics, diversity, project management, leadership, safety, quality, business services, and language and cultural awareness that support the company’s vision to achieve optimal results for customers while building satisfying careers for Bechtel colleagues.
Bechtel University is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education & Training to grant continuing education credit for professional certifications for employees.
