Bechtel, a global engineering, procurement, and construction leader, has been recognized by CSO, a premier security media brand providing insight into business risk leadership, as a CSO50 honoree for its innovative implementation of the Information Classification and Security program across the enterprise. The program ensures security of company information and employee awareness of cyber threats and protection. Launched in 2013, the CSO50 Awards recognizes 50 organizations for security projects and initiatives that demonstrate outstanding business value.
“CSO50 award honors our team’s innovative approach to information security, one of the key business risks in today’s digital economy,” said Carol Zierhoffer, Bechtel’s chief information officer. “Collaborating with leaders in information security, we developed a program that efficiently protects Bechtel’s business information, leveraging employee knowledge of the risks and awareness of the importance of information protection. The program ensures our business continuity and sustains the confidence our customers, vendors, and employees have when entrusting Bechtel with their data and information.”
Bechtel’s Information Classification and Security program protects business information while ensuring the work processes continue seamlessly. “The program implements a suite of tools that streamline labelling, managing, and tracking of business information so it can be properly used and protected with minimal impact on productivity,” said José Hernández, Bechtel’s Chief Information Security Officer. “Extensive employee training is an important component of the program, recognizing employees and their awareness of risks and mitigations as the best line of defense against cybercrime.”
