Bechtel On Team Selected To Manage, Operate Doe´s National Renewable Energy Laboratory In Colorado

The NREL contract, which is valued at $800 million to $1 billion, runs for five years and includes an option for an additional five-year extension.
The team is lead by the Midwest Research Institute (MRI) of Kansas City, Missouri, and also includes the Battelle Memorial Institute of Columbus, Ohio.

"We are very excited with the opportunity to continue expanding Bechtel's high-technology endeavors by supporting DOE's important sustainable energy research and development mission," said Larry Papay, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Bechtel Technology & Consulting.
"Bechtel's 40-year-old research and development function has supported the corporation and external customers with the engineering and demonstration of advanced technology. More than 20 years of work in renewable energy for sponsors such as DOE have positioned Bechtel to win a role in actively managing DOE's research and development and to commercialize and deploy these technologies through our outstanding engineering know-how and global network."

NREL, which is located in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's premier laboratory for renewable energy research. Its mission is to lead the nation toward a sustainable energy future by developing and employing renewable energy technologies and by improving energy efficiency.
