Bechtel, a global engineering, construction, and project management company with projects on six continents, has launched its community commitment to a new region by joining the United Way of Northern Utah as a Mt. Ogden Sponsor, the highest annual level.
“Ogden and Northern Utah have welcomed us with open arms,” said Brian Coombe, Bechtel project manager. “It’s always our goal to be good citizens in the communities where we work, and our employees don’t hesitate to volunteer. Supporting the United Way and its agencies formalizes a commitment that started on the day we moved to the region, and it will grow.”
The Bechtel team expects to ramp up to some 200 employees working in 67,000 square feet of offices at the Business Depot Ogden industrial business park. Bechtel is providing design and construction services to Northrop Grumman for the U.S. Air Force Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent program.
Since arriving in Ogden in late 2020, the Bechtel team has already grown to more than 100 people. In addition to leasing and payroll, the team is making a positive economic impact through relationships with local businesses from construction and facility services to local food trucks hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2015, Bechtel, its employees, and its affiliated projects have donated nearly $40 million and countless volunteer hours to programs supporting education, economic development, and charitable causes across the U.S.
