Bechtel is building the 250-MW solar facility for NRG Energy and SunPower. CVSR is one of the largest central station photovoltaic solar plants in the world and has created approximately 350 jobs since construction started in September 2011.
“Bechtel has hired several hundred craft workers and dozens of suppliers from San Luis Obispo County and other parts of California to work on this project,” said Jim Ivany, president of Bechtel’s renewable power business line. “The project provides skilled workers with good paying jobs and offers an opportunity for local businesses to contribute their expertise to an historic project that will improve the lives of those living in the community.”
Once completed, CVSR will power approximately 100,000 homes with clean, renewable solar energy. Learn more about CVSR (http://www.californiavalleysolarranch.com/)
