Bechtel's work in Kosovo featured by ENR
The challenges faced by Bechtel on the Kosovo motorway project are the subject of a special report in Engineering News Record. Bechtel is working on the project in a joint venture with its long term partner Enka. The first 38 kilometers of the highway were opened in November 2011, a year ahead of schedule. Peter Reina, ENR’s Europe Editor visited the project to see the progress being made on this modern highway for the Balkans.

Bechtel to Hire 400 Adult Apprentices for LNG Construction
Bechtel announced today it will hire an unprecedented 400 adult apprentices for work on construction of the three LNG plants in Gladstone – Queensland Curtis LNG, GLNG, and Australia Pacific LNG. This will be one of the largest single intakes of adult apprentices in Australia’s history and the company will work closely with the Federal Government’s National Apprenticeships Program (NAP) to deliver the opportunities.

Bechtel Awarded $3.9 Billion Contract for Sabine Pass LNG Expansion
Bechtel has been selected by Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for two new liquefaction trains at the Sabine Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The project builds on Bechtel’s previous work at Sabine Pass where the company designed, built, and expanded the LNG receiving facility.

Bechtel Workers Honored at Celebration of Power Facility
More than 200 Bechtel construction workers were honored during an event to celebrate construction of the Russell City Energy Center (RCEC) in Hayward, California. Bechtel is the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the 620-megawatt, combined-cycle facility. The celebration was hosted by the project’s owners, Calpine Corporation and GE Energy Financial Services, and included state and local leaders.
