Bechtel’s Impact Report

Women At Bechtel Are Making a Difference in Construction

March 6-12 is National Women in Construction (NAWIC) Week 2016. The focus of this week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. Bechtel is committed to having a diverse workforce and women at Bechtel are making their mark on the construction industry.

Our colleagues in Australia have been honored on multiple occasions by NAWIC for their contribution to construction including the Crystal Vision Award for Advancing and Furthering the Interests of Women in the Construction Industry.

The women who work at Bechtel's Waste Treatment Plan in Hanford, WA. Were featured in a video at the Women Building California and the Nation conference. The women highlighted were iron workers, pipefitters, equipment operators, carpenters, electricians, plumbers and foremen who are leading work at the WTP.

To encourage girls to consider a career in construction our colleagues in Houston sponsored Mentoring A Girl In Construction (MAGIC) camp. This camp gives high school age students the opportunity to learn about the many employment opportunities available to women in the construction industry and engage them with hands-on training in basic construction skills.

Our colleagues in Australia also shared their experiences on why they chose a career in construction.
