John Pyle provides Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) leadership for EPC Functions, which includes establishing and implementing processes and procedures to protect the safety and health of Bechtel employees, contractors, and customers. He has more than 25 years of professional functional and EPC experience in Oil, Gas & Chemicals (OG&C) (LNG, downstream and chemicals, tanks) and at Department of Energy and Department of Defense facilities.
Previously, as the ES&H manager for OG&C, he provided strategic direction and had decision-making responsibility for ES&H policies, processes, methods, systems, and procedures across the global business unit. From 2011 to 2013, he was the project ES&H manager for the Queensland Curtis LNG project on Curtis Island in Australia with responsibility for providing guidance and oversight for the project management team, direct-hire personnel, and subcontract organizations, and he became the regional ES&H operations manager for the Gladstone and Australia Pacific LNG plants in addition to Queensland Curtis LNG. In earlier roles, he provided ES&H functional management for OG&C, and he led the ES&H program at the Reagan Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. John joined the Bechtel team in 2000 as the principal environmental engineer/scientist at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory.
John is a Certified Safety Professional, Safety Management Specialist, Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction, and Senior Member of the American Society of Safety Professionals. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Colorado State University and an Advanced Diploma in OH&S under the Australia Qualifications Framework.
