Dr. Sebastian Troëng oversees Conservation International's growing global marine team and a marine conservation portfolio spanning 16 countries across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Originally from Sweden, Dr. Troëng holds a master's degree in marine environmental protection and a Ph.D. in animal zoology from Sweden's Lund University. For the past 20 years, he has worked on marine research and conservation in places like Greece, Fiji, Australia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica and Panama, and he sits on the board of several conservation organizations. He has published extensively on sea turtle migrations, conservation and the economic benefits of oceans. In 2010, Sebastian was named one of the Devex and Chevron “40 under 40 Leaders in International Development” in Washington, D.C. He enjoys diving to observe underwater vistas and diverse and abundant ocean life.
