Ben Pletcher serves as the Chief Welding Technologist within the Corporate Construction Welding Team. This dynamic role allows involvement with a wide range of materials and welding processes to support all GBUs. Using the Welding and Applied Technology Center (WATC) in Houston, Texas, the team provides complex materials analysis and performance evaluations in collaboration with our project teams.
The WATC leads industry innovation through analysis of novel materials, application of improved welding methods, and evaluation of tools enabling faster constructability in collaboration with our manufacturing partners.
Pletcher’s background includes applied development in both the EPC world and design of ferrous and non-ferrous welding electrode alloys. He started with a bachelor’s in welding engineering from LeTourneau University and continued with a master’s in materials science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and finished his Ph.D. in materials science at the University of Florida.
