Bechtel, a global leader in engineering, procurement, and construction, has been selected by Texas Central to manage the development of the Texas High-Speed Rail project. Once complete, the railway will connect North Texas, the Brazos Valley, and Houston in approximately 90 minutes, capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.
“We’re putting all of the elements together, building toward the expected 10,000 direct jobs each year during construction in Texas,” Carlos Aguilar, Texas Central CEO said. “The addition of Bechtel, with its experience in mega-infrastructure project execution, is another sign of the expertise this project is generating.”

Bechtel’s Infrastructure team will support Texas Central, investor-owned developer for the project, in managing the development of the 240-mile high-speed rail line. The two organizations will integrate teams to deliver the project from development through implementation. This unprecedented private investment will spur economic development, create tens of thousands of jobs, and infuse billions of dollars of tax revenue into the state and local communities.
Bechtel, known for building first-of-a-kind infrastructure, has completed more than 300 major rail and subway projects, including the Channel Tunnel High Speed 1 rail link, Crossrail, Bay Area Rapid Transit, and the Dulles Corridor Metrorail in the Washington, D.C. area. With one of its operational centers in Texas, Bechtel is focused on delivering major infrastructure to connect and power the community.
