Bechtel announced that world-renowned bulk materials handling expert David Morrison has joined the company and will lead Bechtel’s new global Bulk Materials Handling Centre of Excellence.
Morrison brings a wealth of experience to Bechtel. He has worked in heavy engineering design for the resources sector internationally and in Australia for 34 years. He has led studies for commodities including iron ore, coal, bauxite and copper, both for open cut and underground applications, and has also been study manager and engineering manager for a large number of concept, prefeasibility and feasibility studies.
The new Bulk Materials Handling Centre of Excellence is based in Brisbane and will play an important role in delivering value to the resource industry. The Centre will draw upon the company’s global experience and expertise and be uniquely positioned to apply world class, innovative, optimized solutions to our customers’ projects. Integrated engineering, project management and construction solutions will be used at all stages, from concept through to execution.
Bechtel’s Mining and Metals global business unit president, Shaun Kenny, welcomed Morrison’s appointment. “To work successfully and long term as an engineering and construction provider to the resource industry means that companies like Bechtel have to add value to customers’ businesses. David will make sure we have the capacity to technically deliver bulk materials handling and provide direction to project and study managers on innovative, value-creating solutions.“
Morrison has published and presented widely while also being invited onto the Eminent Speaker Series for the internationally recognised Institution of Engineers, Australia. Morrison continues to be called upon by global mining houses to participate in high-level project technical and economic reviews.
