Bechtel employees who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to safety and innovation have been recognized with the company’s annual Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) awards.
The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) project in Pueblo, Colorado, won the Team of the Year award for its many accomplishments in safety. In 2008, PCAPP received the U.S. Department of Labor’s highest safety and health award— Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program “Star” status. The status recognizes the project’s world-class safety program and culture. The project has since undergone a reevaluation audit and earned a two-year “Star” status extension.
Dan Bravo, who works on the Los Pelambres Repower II project in Chile, was named the ES&H Professional of the Year. Under Bravo’s leadership, the copper concentrator expansion project in the Andes performed 5.6 million job hours without a lost time incident. He has won accolades from colleagues for his innovative team-oriented approach and emphasis on People-Based Safety.
