Joan joined Bechtel as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for the Riyadh Metro Project in January 2016.
He holds an MSc in Geology from the University of Barcelona and he is certified specialist in Geotechnical Engineering and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
He has technical and managerial experience working in major civil and mine infrastructure projects since 2005. He has developed his expertise in tunneling, deep excavations, geotechnical investigations and instrumentation & monitoring projects in Spain, Morocco, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
His recent paper co-authored with Dino Sarac “Stabilization of Vertical Excavation in Collapsing and Non-Collapsing Cavities” has won “Best Infrastructure paper Award” at the Bechtel Virtual Technology Expo 2018, and his work “Stability of Excavations in karst for Deep Underground Stations” was presented at the ISRM specialized conference held in Croatia in April 2019.
