Since September 2014, Héctor García has been president of Bechtel’s Latin America Region, responsible for building customer relationships across all of Bechtel’s markets, sourcing prospects, and leading our activities in the region. He also serves as the company's country manager for Mexico. García joined Bechtel in 1998, leading infrastructure development and finance activities in Mexico and, later, throughout Latin America for Bechtel Enterprises, Bechtel’s finance, development, and ownership arm. He first served as country manager for Mexico between 2005 and 2007. In 2007, García joined Bechtel’s Civil global business unit in London as procurement and contracts manager on the Tube Lines program in London and project manager for the Jubilee, Northern, and Piccadilly Line upgrades there.
He became Civil’s head of marketing and business development in 2012 and moved to Santiago in 2013 to lead Latin American business development for Civil. While he worked at Civil’s London headquarters, García managed Bechtel’s successful bid strategy for Metrô Rio’s Line 4 in Brazil. Prior to Bechtel, García held senior positions with McKinsey & Company in Mexico City and with Mexican contracting firms. García earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana in Ciudad de México, a Master of Engineering degree in engineering management from Cornell University in New York state, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
