Bechtel manages or co-manages seven government services sites across the United States that have been recognized for excellence in safety with the government's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Status—the highest honor for worksite-based safety and health systems.

    Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass

     Richmond, Kentucky

    A joint venture of Bechtel National Inc. and Parsons Government Services Inc. together with its teaming subcontractors, the project received recertification from the Occupational Safety & Health Administration as a VPP Star site recognizing the facility's continued commitment to safe construction practices. The team was first awarded this status in 2011, becoming the first construction site in Kentucky to achieve this honor.

    Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant

    U.S. Department of Energy Hanford Site, Washington state

    The Department of Energy’s Voluntary Protection Program awarded a 2015 Star of Excellence to Bechtel National, Inc. for its safety performance and mentoring efforts at the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, also known as the Vit Plant. The Star of Excellence is the highest rank of the DOE-VPP annual achievement awards.

    Savannah River Remediation

    South Carolina

    Bechtel is part of Savannah River Remediation LLC, which operates Savannah River Site liquid waste complex and remediates radioactive and hazardous underground waste tanks. In addition to operations, Savannah River Remediation handles design, construction, and maintenance. In 2015, SRR won the Star of Excellence Award at the 31st Annual National Voluntary Protection Program Participants Association conference.

    Los Alamos National Security, LLC

     Los Alamos, New Mexico

    This is the first U.S. Department of Energy VPP Star for Los Alamos National Security, LLC, the management and operations contractor for the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratory. With nearly 10,000 employees and contractors working across a 36-square-mile area, Los Alamos is the largest site in the DOE complex to reach Star status.

  • Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plants

    Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant 

    Pueblo, Colorado

    The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) is a state-of-the-art facility built to safely and efficiently destroy the chemical weapons stockpile currently in storage at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot near Pueblo, Colorado. The Bechtel Pueblo Team includes Bechtel, URS, Battelle Memorial Institute, and Parsons Infrastructure and Technology. The team won VPP recertification from OSHA in 2015.
