I became familiar with Bechtel during a graduate recruitment fair at my university. Also, I had a few friends who worked for Bechtel in London at an office just down the road from Imperial College, and they had good things to say about the company.
After joining Bechtel in September 2005, I was assigned to work on a big gas development project in Abu Dhabi. Currently, I am a process systems engineer working on a refinery revamp project in Thailand. I am responsible for my own process unit; participating in design reviews, incorporating vendor data, and verifying the configuration and sizes of pumps, control valves, and hydraulic circuits.
Getting out on the job site is the most interesting part of my work. It lets me see how my drawings actually relate to the construction process. Seeing what is physically being built helps with my understanding.
One of my main goals at Bechtel is to attain the status of Chartered Chemical Engineer.
