I hadn’t heard of Bechtel until a careers fair at my university. A little research showed how successful the company has been over the years, and I realized that this was a company that could offer me opportunities like few others.
I applied online during my final year of university, was interviewed in the London office, and joined the company in August 2006. So far, I have been working as a civil field engineer on a multibillion-dollar gas project in Saudi Arabia. My role is to provide construction teams with all the technical information needed to build a quality project.
I never expected that my first day of work would find me getting on a plane to Saudi Arabia! The project itself is mind-blowing in scale—not a run-of-the-mill construction site.
In my job I meet people from around the world and work with experienced colleagues, from whom I am learning a lot. I am looking forward to working on more projects internationally and facing new challenges.
