I heard about Bechtel through a close friend in college, and learned about the company at our college career fairs. I was hired in July 2006.
Currently I am working as an electrical field engineer in construction on the River Protection Project/Waste Treatment Plant project in Hanford, Washington. I am responsible for the fire protection system in the Low Activity Waste Facility (LAW), as well as lighting and power systems in a section of the LAW building. I review design drawings, perform inspections of contractors work, and manage delivery of information, drawings, and materials in support of contractors’ schedules and contracts.
One of the most interesting aspects of my job is working hand-in-hand each day with craft workers.
In the future, I would like to become more versatile. I want to learn what other functions do on a project so I can lend them a hand and support their needs.
